Peptomyc is a spin-off biotech of the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) focused on developing a new generation of cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs) targeting the MYC oncoprotein for cancer treatment. We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented research technician with strong experience in animal handling. Basic knowledge of tissue culture and standard lab techniques is expected or should be acquired quickly upon joining.
Full-time position for immediate incorporation. Salary will depend on the candidate’s previous experience.
Experience required
- Animal work:
- Mouse handling & welfare monitoring techniques
- Product administration through different routes (i.p, i.v., o.g., etc.)
- Manipulation of cytotoxic substances
- Necropsy and tissue processing
- Surgical techniques (such as subQ and orthotopic implantations)
- Laboratory experience:
- Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture techniques, including passaging and maintenance in a sterile environment
- Hands-on experience with human blood sample handling. Familiarity with cryopreservation techniques and working under clinical or biobank SOPs is highly valued.
Essential qualifications and skills
- Title of higher technician (FPII/CFGS) or bachelor’s degree in the field of bioscience
- Accreditation training to handle experimental animals (Functions b and c according to RD 53/2013 (2))
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative and interdisciplinary team environment
- Good computer skills for data collection, organization and presentation
- Knowledge of English is required
Main responsibilities and duties
- Execution of routine and non-routine animal facility and laboratory experiments under supervision
- Assist with additional ongoing research projects
- Processing of clinical blood samples, including plasma separation and PBMC isolation using density gradient centrifugation, followed by proper labeling, cryopreservation, and documentation in accordance with the company SOPs
- Preparation and routine maintenance of common laboratory reagents
- Ordering lab supplies and monitoring usage to ensure timely restocking
